It's hard to go a week here in the U.S. without hearing about fuel economy standards, raising fleet fuel economy, and greenhouse gases, not to mention carbon emissions, but not all other countries are the same way. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was one of those countries, until now.

The issue is that energy use is currently exceeding growth. Due to economic demand, energy consumption has risen four to five percent a year.

The most interesting bit of all this is that gas prices of a mere 45 U.S. cents per gallon will remain untouched. As the U.S., the burden will be placed on the automakers to boost efficiency.
